These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Cal Halal AI (the “App”) and related websites and services (the “Service”), operated by Oeanova LLC (“we”, “our”, “us”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization.
2. Anonymous Access (No Account)
The App has no sign-up screen and no account credentials. The first time you open it, it signs you in automatically using Firebase Anonymous Authentication, a service provided by Google. We never ask for an email address, password, phone number, or social login, and we never receive one. Section 1 of our Privacy Policy describes this in full.
What this creates is an opaque identifier tied to your installation of the App. Your profile, scan history, and grocery list are stored against that identifier, and you are responsible for the activity that takes place through your installation of the App.
Because there is no password, there is nothing for you to safeguard — and equally, nothing for us to reset. We have no way to verify that an anonymous identity belongs to you other than the identifier itself, so we cannot restore or transfer one on your behalf, and data tied to one identity may not carry over to a new device or to a fresh installation of the App.
3. Acceptable Use
- Do not misuse, reverse engineer, or interfere with the Service.
- Do not upload content that is unlawful, infringing, or harmful.
- Do not photograph people, faces, or personal documents. Images you submit for analysis are processed by a third-party AI provider, so point the camera at the product label or the plate.
- Do not submit product information you know to be false or misleading. Submissions can become part of the shared product database that other users rely on.
- Do not access the Service by automated or bulk means, and do not circumvent the scan limits or other technical restrictions in the App.
4. Halal Information Disclaimer
Halal verdicts in the App are produced by automated ingredient matching and AI models, and nutrition figures are estimates. They can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date. While we work diligently to maintain accuracy, the Service is provided for informational purposes only.
A verdict is not a religious ruling and does not replace a halal certification body or a qualified scholar. Nothing in the App is medical, dietary, or nutritional advice. Where a determination calls for professional or scholarly judgment, treat the Service as a starting point rather than the answer — you remain responsible for your own dietary and religious decisions.
If you have a severe allergy or intolerance, read the physical label on the product and do not rely on the App.
5. Subscriptions & Payments
If we offer paid features, they are sold through the App Store or Google Play, and any subscription renews automatically until you cancel it. We do not collect or process your payment details.
Because the App has no account of its own, a purchase is tied to the App Store or Google Play account you bought it with — not to your anonymous identity in the App. You manage, restore, and cancel a subscription through that platform’s billing settings, and you restore a purchase on a new device by signing in to the same store account. We cannot cancel, refund, or transfer a purchase on your behalf; those requests go to Apple or Google.
6. Intellectual Property
The Service, including all content, logos, and software, is owned by Oeanova LLC and its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws.
7. User Content
You retain ownership of content you submit. You grant Oeanova LLC a non-exclusive, worldwide license to use such content solely to operate and improve the Service.
Product information you submit may become part of the shared product database used by other users. A submission that has become part of that shared database remains there even after your own data is deleted.
8. Termination
You can stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the App. Because there is no login, there is no sign-out or account-closure screen — and uninstalling removes only the data held on your device, not the data stored on our servers against your anonymous identifier.
To have that server-side data deleted, you have two routes. You can erase your scan history yourself, in the App, at Profile → Clear history. For anything further, including deletion of your anonymous identity and its profile, email info@oeanovallc.com. Because we hold no name and no email address for you, include the user ID shown in the App, or send the request through the App’s Support / Contact flow, which attaches it automatically — otherwise we have no way to tell which data is yours. Section 13 of the Privacy Policy sets out this process and our response time.
We may suspend or terminate access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, with reasonable notice where practicable. With no account to close, this means blocking an anonymous identifier, an installation, or a device.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Oeanova LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of the Service.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Mexico, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
12. Changes
We may modify these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
